David Wilson, MD

David A. Wilson, MD, FAANS, is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon specializing in brain tumors and spinal disorders who joined Arizona Neurosurgery & Spine Specialists, located in Phoenix and Peoria, Arizona, in 2013. He is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons, licensed by the Arizona Medical Board, and acts as both Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix and Neurosurgery Trauma Liaison at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons and Arizona Neurosurgical Society.

Dr. Wilson received his MD from Columbia University, where he was a Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellow and inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He completed his neurosurgical residency at the Barrow Neurological Institute, where he completed subspecialty fellowships in complex spinal surgery and endoscopic skull base surgery. During his training, Dr. Wilson completed a fellowship in minimally invasive neurosurgery at Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney, Australia as a Sir Keith Murdoch Neurosurgery Fellow.

Trained in minimally-invasive and endoscopic techniques, Dr. Wilson utilizes the most recent advances in surgical technology to improve the quality of life of his patients. Dr. Wilson’s areas of expertise include primary and malignant brain tumors, meningiomas, pituitary tumors, trigeminal neuralgia, spinal tumors and spinal degenerative disorders. He has published over 40 peer-reviewed research articles and book chapters and has presented his research nationally and internationally. In 2013, his research earned the DePuy Synthes Cerebrovascular Award presented by the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons.

The decision to undergo neurosurgery involves numerous questions and considerations. Dr. Wilson’s goal is to discuss all treatment options with his patients and empower them to make the best decision. His philosophy of care is to treat each patient with the utmost clinical excellence and compassion. He integrates the most recent advances in technology and surgical innovation into his practice to improve the quality of life of his patients. Outside of the hospital and clinic, he enjoys running, hiking, and spending time with his family. He also remains active in the international neurosurgical community, having organized and participated in neurosurgical humanitarian missions to Tanzania and Vietnam. He is accepting new patients.
